Author's Statement

The United States of America—long celebrated as a land of opportunity—continues to draw millions in pursuit of the American Dream. Yet beneath this façade of hope and progress lies a shadowy underworld too often ignored. Some newcomers, driven by unrestrained ambition, are willing to cross any ethical line in their quest for wealth and influence.

Darío Oleaga, a young Dominican immigrant who arrived in 1994 with lofty aspirations, quickly transformed—from a drug dealer to a seemingly determined entrepreneur—into a figure consumed by the pursuit of power. Behind the public image of a successful businessman and generous philanthropist lies a far more unsettling reality. Oleaga has weaponized his fortune to build a far-reaching network of influence, one that stretches from the neighborhoods of New York to the corridors of Capitol Hill.

Through strategic political donations and carefully cultivated alliances, he has secured the favor of powerful figures, effectively purchasing protection and evading accountability.

Press Release / Author's Conference’s Speech

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Good morning, New Yorkers.
Thank you very much for being here.

Politics, as Plato once envisioned, should be a science rooted in justice and truth. Yet in New York City today, we are confronted with a troubling reality — the failure of leadership to protect the integrity of our democratic system.

Given the importance of the upcoming New York City mayoral election, and the fact that several well-known public figures and politicians who are endorsing candidate Zohran Momdani have maintained a close relationship with the leader of a Dominican-American criminal network, I believe it is my responsibility to share this information now — before voters go to the polls, not afterward.

Synopsis

Narco-politics is no longer confined to Latin America. It has crossed borders and infiltrated the very heart of the United States. Blood-stained money has been used to finance political campaigns under the guise of philanthropy, from immigrant communities in New York to Capitol Hill. This investigation begins with a real and unsettling story: the trajectory of Darío Oleaga, a self-proclaimed businessman and entrepreneur from San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, who settled in New York in the mid-1990s.

The Author

Julio César Valdez is a Dominican-American writer, born in Montecristi, Dominican Republic, in 1960. He began his studies at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and later moved to the then Soviet Union to study at the Kiev Institute of Engineers (KISI), where he acquired knowledge of the Russian language and its culture.

Excerpts

Politics, once envisioned by thinkers like Plato as a science rooted in justice and truth, now seems surrounded by a darker landscape. For many, it has become a platform for power and private interests, overshadowing the common good. In this context, it is crucial to carefully choose those we trust to guide society, as history has shown that the greatest danger often comes from those who hide behind a veneer of virtue.

Excerpt of Chapter 10

In the last two decades, money laundering stemming from drug trafcking and other criminal activities has reached unprecedented levels of sophistication, with the establishment of front corporations being one of the most common tactics employed by criminals to conceal the illicit origin of their funds.

Evidence

Explore here some compelling evidence that highlights the author’s investigative mastery, thereby reinforcing the narrative and demonstrating the truthfulness of the events that take place in this intriguing story. Although the evidence presented here has certain limitations, the reader can find them in their complete form in the original work, where they are presented in more detail, along with many other proofs that make the facts in which the main characters have participated undeniable. Similarly, this evidence demonstrates the chameleon-like ability of the antagonist to carry out the illicit acts attributed to him.
